Say goodbye to winter blues with a new spring fragrance.

May 1, 2013 in Fragrance by Denise Wild

This news couldn’t have come at a better time. One of my favourite flowers and one that evokes spring and summer memories for me is definitely jasmine. In the city you can sometimes find jasmine flowers in neighborhood trees and the scent just fills the air with a lovely delicate fragrance. L’Occitane La Collection De Grasse Jasmin & Bergamote encapsulates this feeling of happiness in the most perfectly blended perfume. While Jasmine can be delicate yet rich all at the same time the Bergamot lightens the fragrance up. No doubt this will be my go to fragrance in warmer months.

GS Approved: L’Occitane will be launching “La Collection de Grasse” featuring four exclusive fragrances by perfumer Karine Duberuil. Using precious extracts from around the world the main ingredients in each of the scents seem to enrich each other. I had a hard time choosing my favourite!

Inspiration: When I think of the Jasmine flower the first word that comes to mind is “delicate”. I will fully admit I watched (and read!) the Twilight Saga. And I will fully admit that I loved it! Kristen Stewart’s character Bella is no doubt a delicate character. I won’t ruin it for you but the last book and last movie is the one I loved the most as Bella becomes not so delicate anymore and finds her true self!

Longing for the summer heat? I know I am! The harsh winter weather has left a little something sweet and summery to be desired. I want a product that will inspire some summer behaviour, and I’ve found it in L’Occitane Sorbet Verbena’s Eau de Toilette. Infused with the sizzling heat of a hot day, and the cool breath that is a cup of mint ice cream, this eau-de-toilette quenches any thirst!

Inspiration: Marion Cotillard is a French actress who embodies her French heritage in everything she does! Since L’Occitane is the embodiment of French culture, what better to represent the sweet, citrusy smell of the Sorbet Verbena Eau de Toilette than this French darling?

Try a floral fragrance with a modern touch.

October 24, 2012 in Fragrance by Denise Wild

Red Door is the iconic fragrance of Elizabeth Arden. When you see the company’s logo you automatically think of this timeless fragrance. This fall Elizabeth Arden introduces Red Door Aura which is a contemporary and youthful twist on the classic scent. Inspired by the women of New York City for their vibrancy and style this fragrance retains the quality of Red Door but with a modern and woodsy take. This bright floral fragrance is combined with accents of orange flower and jasmine for a more airy feel.

GS Approved: I’m a big fan of lighter fragrances but I still like scents to be remembered. Although this is a lighter and fresher take on the classic scent, Red Door Aura will still make a statement.

Inspiration: I know it’s hard to believe that I’ve never been to New York City. Trust me, it’s on my list! And if I had my pick I would love to stay at one of the four ultra modern W Hotels (www.whotelsnewyork.com). The hustle and bustle, great food and shopping – what more could a girl ask for?

Spritz yourself with a soft floral scent.

I always like to think of fragrance as the finishing touch to your beauty routine. Without it, I often feel incomplete. L’Occitane’s Pivoine Delicate Eau De Toilette is a tribute to the peony and includes fresh citrus fruits, peach and a hint of white musk. The combination is irresistible – romantic, crisp and warm – perfect for strolling around the city in the lovely warm sunshine.

GS Approved: Pivoine Delicate is a fragrance and make up collection that has a girlishness about it I can’t seem to resist.

Inspiration: Peonies always make me think of weddings and we’re at the peak of wedding season right now! Reese Witherspoon wore a blush pink wedding gown by Monique Lhuillier making pink the latest trend in wedding gowns.

Feel like a princess with a French inspired fragrance.

July 26, 2012 in Fragrance by Denise Wild

We all have a princess within us just waiting to come out. There are many ways to feel pampered like a princess – perhaps for you it’s a day at the spa, or an expensive meal. My inner princess likes to come out to play when I’m wearing the perfect delicate perfume. Inspired by a French princess L’Occitane’s Cherry Princess Eau de Toilette evokes the gracefulness of the cherry tree – pure white petals which give way to the crisp and summery fruit we all love.

GS Approved: This perfume is floral based but the fruitiness of cherry gives this scent a delicate softness that will bring out the feminine princess-like quality in any woman.

Inspiration: All this talk of cherries has got me thinking to one of my favorite makeup trends this year – the bold lip. Done right in a coral, fuchsia or of course the perfect cherry colour this lip definitely make a bold statement. I love how Emma Stone wears this bold colour on her lip and in her dress effortlessly.

Cool down in hot heat with a sumptuous citrus scent.

June 6, 2012 in Fragrance by Denise Wild

When the mercury is rising, I find heavy fragrances can feel stuffy and overwhelming. The increase in skin temperature from high heat and humidity intensifies perfume, making scents stronger and more potent. I think, why add more when the temperature calls for less? This year, I’ve lightened my summer spritz to a seemingly simple, yet highly refined blend featuring Moroccan tangerines, Florida oranges, and yellow and green lemons all bottled to natural perfection in Honoré des Prés Honoré’s Trip. A refreshing summertime citrus, it’s perfect for the long, languid days of summer, offering a fresh and understated orangey option that makes me smile. Ooh la la oranges!

GS Approved: 100% natural, Honoré des Prés is a parisian brand containing no synthetics, colourants or phthalates. An ECO CERT company, Honoré fragrances are all good for you all the way through.

Inspiration: Take a note, a fragrance note that is, from the French and make your own unique scent by layering fragrances. The Honoré des Prés Verrines collection boasts four unique gourmand scents that work even better when layered with each other.

Freshen makeup with an aromatherapy facial mist that also enhances mood.

May 14, 2012 in Fragrance by Denise Wild

I’m not one for adding unnecessary steps to my morning routine, I choose my products based on how many things they can accomplish in a short moment. I will consider something new if it not only lives up to it’s claims, but surpasses my expectations and delights me in some way. It’s a tough game to get onto my daily roster.
Lately, I’ve been drawn to the buzz surrounding facial mists; it seems that everyone is spritzing and spraying to ‘set’ makeup. As curious as I am, I want my face mist to surpass setting, I want it to change my day. Lotus Wei had this in mind when they created Joy Juice. Joy Juice is an aromatherapy facial mist that blends natural fruit essences of sweet orange, blood orange, rosewood, lime and lotus. The result is a bright, delicious burst of scent not unlike inhaling a chilled pink lemonade. More than keeping my makeup in place, the fresh scent and gentle misting sensation actually brightens my mood.

GS Approved: Used five times a day, the aromatherapy properties of Lotus Wei Joy Juice enhance your state of mind and promote contentment and happiness. You can feel the difference immediately. Joy Juice will have you feeling like you just had a joy smoothie!

Inspiration: Speaking of smoothies, Zac Effron is back in a Notebook-style tale of two young lovers. The Lucky One launches April 2012. Here’s hoping for a joyful ending.

In warmer weather, switch to a light, fresh scent reflective of the season’s refreshing treats.

May 1, 2012 in Fragrance by Denise Wild

I guess you could say I’m a foodie – a fragrance foodie that is. Anything that resembles vanilla, orange, coconut or caramel – count me in. Gourmand scents are always on my top shelf. That’s why I regularly stock up on Tallulah Jane 333.

This natural handcrafted scent made from wildflowers reminds me of the refreshing smell and taste of a margarita. Three types of lavender blend with three types of chamomile and three types of citrus for a light, refreshing scent perfect for the warmer months.

GS Approved: Ethically created without synthetics or additives, all fragrances are vegan and use only sustainably harvested ingredients. Tallulah Jane is light on your senses and on the environment.

Inspiration: Legend has it that the Margarita was invented in 1941, in Ensenada, Mexico, after Margarita Henkel, the daughter of a German ambassador. Equal parts tequila, orange liqueur and lime, served over ice in a salt-rimmed glass, try yours with the special limited edition José Cuervo Platino Reserva de la Familia Tequila. A coveted 100% de Agave plata Tequila from the Cuervo family’s private reserve.

Embrace your feminine side with a sweet and fruity fragrance.

January 10, 2012 in Fragrance by Denise Wild

Cherries are one of my favorite fruits and it’s fun to see that this delicious red berry now stars in its own fragrance! Fruits and Passion Cherry Eau De Toilette combines both fruity and floral ingredients to create this delicate scent. A blend of cherry and apple notes combined with cherry blossom, white musk and vanilla this scent is definitely feminine rather than girly. This is the perfect scent for that upcoming Valentine’s date.

GS Approved: As always with Fruits and Passion, this collection was carefully formulated with the extract of ethically and authentically harvested European cherries and contains at least 85% plant-origin ingredients. Not only will you smell good but you’re doing something good for yourself too.

Inspiration: Cherry red was THE colour of the 2011 Emmys. Nina Dobrev, Canadian beauty and star of the Vampire Diaries looked stunning in this floor length Donna Karan gown.

Add an iconic perfume to your fragrance collection.

December 30, 2011 in Fragrance by Denise Wild

Every few years there’s that fragrance that everyone flocks to. The bottle is beautiful, the scent so attractive and it suits everyone. Angel by Thierry Mugler is possibly that fragrance. Definitely sweet but not overpowering your femininity is sure to shine through. It’s a perfect fragrance for this time of year when we’re covered up in layer upon layer – it can be difficult to feel sexy when we’re worried about keeping warm! Add this fragrance to your “wardrobe” and you won’t forget the girlyness in you.

GS Approved: I’m always a sucker for beautiful packaging but perfume bottles are my ultimate weakness. The star shaped bottle of Angel is gorgeous to look at it makes me want to pick it up and admire it everyday.

Inspiration: Do you remember the ad campaign for Angel with Naomi Watts? I still think she makes the perfect spokesmodel for this fragrance. She exudes femininity without being overtly sexy – exactly what the woman who wears Angel should feel.
