Embrace your feminine side with a sweet and fruity fragrance.

January 10, 2012 in Fragrance by Denise Wild

Cherries are one of my favorite fruits and it’s fun to see that this delicious red berry now stars in its own fragrance! Fruits and Passion Cherry Eau De Toilette combines both fruity and floral ingredients to create this delicate scent. A blend of cherry and apple notes combined with cherry blossom, white musk and vanilla this scent is definitely feminine rather than girly. This is the perfect scent for that upcoming Valentine’s date.

GS Approved: As always with Fruits and Passion, this collection was carefully formulated with the extract of ethically and authentically harvested European cherries and contains at least 85% plant-origin ingredients. Not only will you smell good but you’re doing something good for yourself too.

Inspiration: Cherry red was THE colour of the 2011 Emmys. Nina Dobrev, Canadian beauty and star of the Vampire Diaries looked stunning in this floor length Donna Karan gown.

Add an iconic perfume to your fragrance collection.

December 30, 2011 in Fragrance by Denise Wild

Every few years there’s that fragrance that everyone flocks to. The bottle is beautiful, the scent so attractive and it suits everyone. Angel by Thierry Mugler is possibly that fragrance. Definitely sweet but not overpowering your femininity is sure to shine through. It’s a perfect fragrance for this time of year when we’re covered up in layer upon layer – it can be difficult to feel sexy when we’re worried about keeping warm! Add this fragrance to your “wardrobe” and you won’t forget the girlyness in you.

GS Approved: I’m always a sucker for beautiful packaging but perfume bottles are my ultimate weakness. The star shaped bottle of Angel is gorgeous to look at it makes me want to pick it up and admire it everyday.

Inspiration: Do you remember the ad campaign for Angel with Naomi Watts? I still think she makes the perfect spokesmodel for this fragrance. She exudes femininity without being overtly sexy – exactly what the woman who wears Angel should feel.

Envelop yourself in a rose scented lotion.

November 7, 2011 in Body by Denise Wild

Like a lot of women I love flowers. Not to say that I expect a bouquet of flowers or anything like that, but flowers just have a way of lifting spirits – they are beautiful to look and have such a unique fragrance. When it comes to perfumes I’m always quite drawn to scents with a subtle floral scent – they just make me feel happy! Yves Rocher’s Moment de Bonheur Perfumed Body Lotion uses the most feminine and recognized flower – the rose. But have you heard of a ruffle rose? It’s something between a Peony and a Wild Rose and is the main scent of this lovely body lotion. A touch of happiness in a bottle!

GS Approved: The ruffle rose used to make this body lotion is called the Centefolia and means one hundred petals. This flower is also known as the “May Rose” since this is the time of year it comes into bloom. Only a few dozen kilos of these flowers are available each year which makes this scent as unique as the individual who wears it.

Inspiration: Wedding season is typically in the summer which means there are many brides planning their big days now! This beautiful white ruffle rose wedding cake by New York City guru Sylvia Weinstock is sure to make an elegant statement.

Sparkle like a Parisian night in an eye-catching eye shadow.

July 18, 2011 in Makeup by Denise Wild

Ok, I have to admit it, I’ve never been to Paris. But I like to believe that if the opportunity ever came up I would be prepared with Lancôme Paris Color Design Eye Shadow Palette in Parisian Nights.  This palette covers the full spectrum of cool to warm shades of blue. Mix and match to complement any outfit or do what I do and layer to create a fully dynamic look.

GS Approved: This limited edition collection has partnered with designer Denis Gagnon to create a truly unique, feminine, and contemporary package. The finishing touch, Gagnon’s signature , makes this product both beautiful inside and out.

Inspiration: Of course Denis Gagnon’s own fashion designs are inspiration for Lancôme’s Color Design Eye Shadow Palette in Parisian Nights.  His mixture of sensuality with femininity in both elegant and casual pieces make every woman wanting garments right off the runway.

Try a nude lipstick for spring.

April 5, 2011 in Makeup by Denise Wild

Lancôme isn’t your grandmother’s cosmetic company anymore. With their new groundbreaking approach to colour and light Lancôme’s L’Absolu Nu has perfected the nude lip. Nude doesn’t have to always mean naked. A natural, slightly tinted lip gives every woman a fresh and radiant glow. The hints of beige and pink add just the right amount of colour while being ultra light and sheer. The touches of shimmer reflect the light making your lips look fuller and juicy.  And not only will your lips look juicy, they actually will be with Pro-Xylane technology that replenishes and moisturizes for 8 hours.

GS Approved:  L’Absolu Nu encompasses beauty inside and out. The rose design on the magnetic case gives your make up bag a burst of sensuality and femininity while making sure the cap never slips off and ruins your lipstick tip again.

Inspiration: Jennifer Lopez is everywhere these days; American Idol, red carpets and music videos. How does she go from a day to night look without skipping a beat? Nudes! Keeping it natural and fresh makes her look versatile for any situation that comes her way.

Editor’s Notes: I am personally stuck between the years of wearing pastel pink lip gloss and matt mauve lipstick. Sometimes it can be very difficult to find a shade that is appropriate for my age. The solution is Lancôme’s L’Absolu Nu. This lipstick is both sophisticated and flirty.

Get in touch with your softer side with a light feminine new scent.

April 4, 2011 in Fragrance by Denise Wild

When I think of the first days of spring I think of the sound of the birds chirping and the feel of the sun lightly kissing my skin. Yves Rocher’s So Elixir Eau De Toilette is a fresh and luminous fragrance which is just perfect for bringing us out of hibernation mode. This eau de toilette completes the So Elixir line which already includes an eau de parfum, perfumed bath & shower gel and the perfumed body lotion.

GS Approved: The final edition in the best selling So Elixir line, this eau de toilette is a lighter choice boasting a fresh and delicate scent making it the ideal gift for Mother’s day.

Inspiration: This soft and sensual scent has me longing for pretty feminine pieces such as those of designer Valentino. While I may not have the occasion or the budget to own any of these dresses, I can have fun creating a dress set such as this one on www.polyvore.com.

Shower with an irresistible fragrance with fresh and fruity notes to brighten your mood.

September 17, 2010 in Skincare by Denise Wild

Would you describe yourself as a happy, feminine, cheeky, gal ready for a scent-sational summer?  If yes (or even no), Yves Rocher Flowerparty Perfumed Shower Gel is a great way to kick-start your day and your mojo!  This shower gel smells amazing!  The fresh scent of orange and mandarin hits you off the top, then refreshing litchi nectar and raspberry soothe you in the middle notes.  Creamy vanilla awaits you at the base for lingering sweetness all day.  Mmm…the only trouble with Yves Rocher Flowerparty Perfumed Shower Gel is that you may never want to get out of the shower!

GS Approved: A bright fresh scent at shower time revitalizes your senses for a fun filled day ahead!

Inspiration:  The most memorable summers are filled with friends, food, and fun.  Take a cue from Jamie, a photographer in NYC, aka: www.fromme-toyou.tumblr.com, and spend this summer making the most of every moment.  You may even pick up a thing or two from this gal’s bright outlook and stylish lifestyle!

Choose a clothing-brand fragrance, to spice up your scent wardrobe!

September 15, 2010 in Fragrance by Denise Wild

With top notes of citrus lemon and apple leaves, a second layer of floral white cedar and jasmine, and finishing with smoky Brazilian rosewood, you would think Rachël by Dynamite might cost more than the amount for a decent bottle of Vino.  But luck is on your side, as Dynamite, a 35 year old clothing brand based out of Montreal with stores across Canada and the US, has introduced their scent for the confident, feminine, and sexy women.  Rachël by Dynamite is an energetic, beautiful, fresh and affordable fragrance to have on hand…or wrist, or neck.

GS Approved:  Affordable and wearable: our favourite notes for a perfect fragrance.

Inspiration: All that shopping and treating yourself has got to add up to a less-than-perfect vanity.  The ultimate in indulgences is a stunning set up similar to a cosmetic counter.   Try using a beautiful tray atop your dresser, such as this one from West Elm, to display your perfumes.  Getting ready never felt so elegant.  Now you can show off your taste in fragrance and design!

Editor’s Note: These days it seems everyone has a fragrance; celebrities, car companies, clothing brands, anyone and anything has their own scent.  Isn’t this wonderful!  The more options out there mean that we can be more selective in our choice.  We can choose a fragrance based on its notes and how it smells on us, as opposed to buying whatever is ‘in’ right now.  Remember the ‘90’s?  There were designer perfumes and then there were imitations of designer perfumes.  It seemed everyone wore pretty much the same thing.  Not anymore.  There’s something charming about asking your girlfriend what scent she’s wearing and have her reply: “Oh, honestly, I must confess – it’s (insert celeb/brand/clothing line here).”  Perfume snobbery went out with imitations of ‘CK One’.
