October 4, 2010 in Skincare by Denise Wild

A true breakthrough in the field of cosmetics, Vichy Laboratories has created a new plumping agent that fights the appearance of all 3 types of wrinkles: permanent, reversible and embryonic. The intense formula contains a triple dose of hyaluronic acid to powerfully fill in wrinkles and hydrate the epidermal surface. Fragmented HA acts deep in the heart of wrinkles and increases cell proliferation. Anti-hyaluronidase lastingly prevents the deterioration and fragmentation of natural HA. Combined with Retinol+Adenosine, a new-generation association boasting superior efficacy compared to retinol alone. Vichy LiftActiv Retinol HA Night Total Wrinkle Plumping Care is suitable for all skin types and is a must-have for every woman looking to treat wrinkles. Allergy-tested and formulated with soothing and fortifying Vichy Thermal Spa Water, this product is suitable for all skin types.

GS Approved: With 3x higher concentration of hyaluronic acid and its new packaging that protects the formula from air and light, makes waking up to a stabilized and plumped face so lifting. Leave it to the Vichy Laboratories to create one more thing we feel we can’t live without.

Inspiration: The Arctic Ice Room Spa treatment at the Qua Baths and Spa at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas offers you a shot of extreme cold with its indoor snowstorm experience. Get that same shocking effect on your face with a shot of Hyaluronic Acid and Retinol+Adenosine.

Editors Note: The Qua Baths and Spa at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas is truly a luxury spa experience that taps into the healing powers of water and brings the traditions of the glorious baths of ancient Rome to modern times. This tranquil environment offers the experience of the Arctic Ice Room, basically an anti-sauna. You find yourself surround with the pleasant scent of mint while relaxing on a heated bench. You watch crystals made from soap and water descend from the ceiling vents. This shot of extreme coldness helps to reduce hypertension and tighten pores. Qua Baths and Spa is a place for personal rediscovery, solace and healing. A must-go visit if in the Las Vegas area.

Treat your hair to a volume hit with a shampoo that strengthens the inner structure of fine hair.

November 11, 2009 in Hair by Denise Wild

Schwarzkopf Seah Hairspa Mineral Bath Shampoo is just as cool as its ingredients. This is a premium product developed for fine hair. The volumizing formula of Schwarzkopf’s own VolumeAlgae Complex plus ocean minerals strengthens and provides long-lasting volume. Amaranth oil helps to hydrate and give hair and scalp a healthy boost without creating any build-up of residue. This shampoo leaves hair noticeably fuller and stronger with a natural shine.

GS Approved: Not only does this shampoo take advantage of the rich minerals from the deep, but it also has a convenient pump dispense making it super easy to use in the shower. Practical and gentle, we love the conditioner too!

Inspiration: Cameron Diaz has a strong love for surfing. (See? Here, she’s looking uber hot with her surfboard in Charlie’s Angels.) If you choose a shampoo that strengthens limp hair, your fine hair can look fuller and stronger even during extreme sports.

Editor’s Note: I believe I need to add some more heat to my winter beauty repertoire. I’m going to add one new subtle hairstyle to look and feel warm-weather elegant, despite the low temp outside. I’m going to try a super-luxurious bohemian style, and although I want it to look effortless, I want to ensure it looks more Prada than ocean surf. I want to achieve some volume with a little bounce. This shampoo gives that extra boost my fine hair needs to create this luxe look. I first centre part my hair and spray Schwarzkopf Bonacure Light Volume Spray to just the roots of my dry hair. I then take random sections of my hair and wrap it around my curling iron. I roughen up my hair texture by mussing and rumpling up my roots with my fingertips while spraying Schwarzkopf OsiS+ Freeze Fix hairspray. These products have that fresh scent of the ocean breeze, which accompanies my hairstyle perfectly. I also make sure I have dewy skin and peach flushed cheeks to finish the look.

Select a leave-in conditioner that extends your hair’s vibrancy and keeps your red hair from fading.

October 30, 2009 in Hair by Denise Wild

Alterna Caviar Anti-Aging Seasilk Red Leave-In Conditioner is a lightweight detangling treatment designed to deeply nourish and protect colour-treated hair. Sun and heat protectors help block UV rays and colour fade. And optimal brighteners revive hair’s lustre and add multidimensional shine. It keeps hair looking youthful and radiant with anti-aging properties.

GS Approved: Let your mind fade away and not your colour with a leave-in conditioner that provides superior UVA/UVB protection especially designed for red hair.

Inspiration: Although she was canned from Melrose Place, Ashlee Simpson-Wentz’s (who played Violet Foster on the show), knows how to keep her vivacious red hair from fading and probably uses a powerful protecting treatment.

Editors Note: I absolutely love leave-in conditioners. They hydrate, and, with the right product choice combination, they help protect your colour. On the styling side of things, I love a messed up bun. The classic up-do radiates poise, tousling it up displays a fun side. With a leave-in conditioner and some hairspray, you can achieve this looser, wilder, and scruffier version of a bun at home. To create this effortless look, apply a leave-in conditioner to your damp hair to keep it healthy and prevent breakage while backcombing. Let your hair air-dry then build some texture by teasing random sections of dry hair from the roots. Tip your head upside down, pulling your hair into a loose ponytail on the crown of your head. Pin the ends around the elastic band. It’s key to remember that you are creating structure and then somewhat destroying it. Pull some pieces of hair from the bun and hairspray the ends. Blast the hair dryer to ruffle up the look, while softly using your hand to rub the bun. Keep this style simple; you don’t want to end up looking like an electrocuted bride. If you achieved a lopsided bun, don’t fix it. This look is supposed to be imperfect. You want to leave the frizzies. Use a final spritz of hairspray to finish off the look. This distressed bun is a fine flyaway mess, and it’s what I’ll be sporting this season.
